A China levou a cabo o lançamento do primeiro satélite de comunicações para a Nigéria utilizando um foguetão CZ-3B Chang Zheng-3B (CZ3B-8) lançado desde o Centro de Lançamento de Satélites de Xichang.

Os repetidores de banda-L irão proporcional serviços NOS (Navigation Overlay Services) baseados no serviço europeu EGNOS (European Geostacionary Navigation Overlay Service).
